Judge Joseph M. Corabi is a distinguished legal professional with a rich history of dedication to the law and the community. He has established an impressive career, earning numerous accolades and building a legacy of public service and legal expertise.
He commenced his academic journey at Steubenville Catholic Central High School, graduating in 1970. Following this, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Steubenville and successfully graduated in 1974. Continuing his educational pursuits, he attended Ohio Northern University School of Law, where he attained his Juris Doctor of Law degree in 1977. Throughout his law school tenure, he displayed exceptional academic prowess, maintaining the Dean’s List for three quarters and receiving the esteemed American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Law.
Judge Corabi embarked on his legal career immediately after completing his education, beginning his practice as an attorney in 1977. Over the years, he has honed his legal expertise and shared his knowledge by teaching Business Law at the University of Steubenville from 1978 to 1981. He served as Special Counsel for the City of Steubenville from 1988 to 1991 and held positions as Solicitor for various townships and villages, including Wells Township, Cross Creek Township, Bloomingdale, and New Alexandria. Additionally, he served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Jefferson County from 1987 to 1990, contributing to the local legal system.
In 1990, Judge Corabi achieved a significant milestone in his career when he was elected as the Toronto County Court Judge, a position he held with distinction until 2015. Since February 2015, he has held the esteemed position of Jefferson County Juvenile/Probate Judge through February 2021, continuing his impactful journey within the legal field. He currently serves as the magistrate for the Jefferson County Juvenile Court.
Aside from his professional achievements, Judge Corabi cherishes his family dearly. He was married to Kathleen McMenamin Corabi (now deceased) and is a loving father to three children: Craig Corabi, Ryan Corabi, and Krista Corabi-Spence. His family has grown with the addition of five cherished grandchildren: Elise, Jojo, Michael, Derek, and Jack.
